So after madman is currently orphaned in Debian and might get kicked out of the archive along with xmms kicking the bucket, I just noticed that one of my newer pieces of code made it into Debian: tagpy! :) That's awesome.
To everybody who is holding their breath waiting for a madman update: I still use madman for my own music managing needs, as it still (surprise) is exactly what I want in a music manager. But I simply don't have enough time for serious maintenance. I might switch it to audacious in the near future to keep it working for me, but I'm not promising extensive new features...
Yes, keep Madman alive! It's my favourite music manager. Simple, yet complete. My only wish is that you could ignore some words when sorting the artists (like the word 'The'), so that The Beatles would be listed under B and not under the T. Unless this is already working somehow and I'm too blind to see it...
Please bring back Madman!
Please keep Madman alive!
yes i found it, atlast, something good
I miss the program VERY much. All the other programs do have nice features like cover display last.fm and the like, but in the first place I just want to hear and organize MY MUSIC. For that purpose madman is simply the best. I have never programmed in C++ (a bit C only) and have never built a debian package either, but I would give it a try with a little help from someone, cause I want my madman back! Is there anyone to help?
I have been doing the rounds of Banshee, Rhythmbox etc and they annoy me because they don't have the features I love in madman.
I just attempted an apt-get install madman in Ubuntu and it complains of there being no xmms install candidate. So my vote is definitely to code madman up for a newer audio player.
Madman really is the one music manager to rule them all.
I still use and love Madman in an old Fedora distro. I am preparing to move to Centos, and hope that I could get the Beta working. Hang in there, Andreas, we know you are busy, but Madman is the best.
A port to audacious would be really great! - can I subscribe to a list or something? Well thanks!
I used to use this program a long time ago, but stopped because I started use mpd. Now that it supports mpd, I wanted to use it again, but the ubuntu package keeps crashin, I can't get any of the recent versions to compile, and I can't get it from git (error: Unable to find eac4b30f3e3860ba0a5ce1000476d39d4d570f50 under http://git.tiker.net/trees/madman.git).
I really miss this program, as it's the best music playlist manager I've every found (including iTunes, although iTunes comes close), Especially the auto-dj. I'd really like to be able to use it again, but don't know any C++, so I can't fix the problems with the recent versions.
Is there going to be any updates in the near future? I REALLY need this program.
will there be a package in (k)ubuntu as well? Shouldn't be big of a deal - right? That'd be awesome! cheers
Is there any current news on this one? I've only just found it today and would like to know if there are going to be any further updates or not. It keeps crashing on me which is really annoying as this is the first piece of software that I've found which is just perfect for my needs!
